DDOT has identified approximately 20 miles of roadway for the implementation of protected bike lanes in 2020, 2021, and 2022. DDOT has also identified 1.65 miles of dedicated trails to be completed in the same time period.
More roadways are being studied and analyzed for the inclusion of protected bike lanes and not all ongoing bicycle projects are listed on DDOT’s wiki or website. These projects are not only part of DDOT’s bike network plans, but also represent the implementation of Vision Zero projects and moveDC initiatives. DDOT continues to look for opportunities to fill gaps in the existing network, implement additional dedicated facilities, improve and make permanent current facilities, and welcomes community feedback and suggestions from across the District.
